No Love for Gucci in NYC in 2008

Gucci has had some troubles with proceedings for their new 46,000 sq. foot flagship store on Fifth Avenue. To celebrate the new store in style, they created a limited edition handbag with the trademark New York “Gucci (hearts) NY” on their classic double-G patterned handbags that many of their new collection handbags are sporting.

All proceeds from the bag are supposed to go to “Playground Partners of the Central Park Conservancy”, which maintains the playgrounds in City Park.

Unfortunately for themselves Gucci did not realize that the “I (heart) NY” slogan – of which they used a form of on their Gucci NYC handbag - is owned by the New York City's Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC), who is now holding talks with Gucci over this copyright issue.

But this was not the end of it…. Gucci invited five bloggers from the fashion-blog elite – all non New York natives to blog about their favourite New York spots and landmarks!! This left one New York fashion-blogger unhappy who after complaining received a complimentary "Gucci (hearts) NY" bag as compensation. Now another New York fashion blogger piped up – as the owner of a damaged canvas Gucci bag she received poor service when she sought to repair it at the store. The store’s manager offered no help and rebuffed her complaint. While one blogger received a complimentary free bag – as an actual Gucci customer all she got was poor service!

The world is not a fair place!!
