LeSportsac, Inc. started in 1974, as an accessories company that introduced a collection of fold-in-a-pouch ripstop parachute nylon bags and luggage.

Gwen Stefani started off designing handbags for "LeSportsac" before she started her fashion range. Although she does not design handbags for them anymore, her designs are still popular and can sometimes be snapped up on e-Bay.

LeSportsac’s classic handbag range 2008 does not have designs by Gwen Stefani, but still some pretty exciting ones: You can pick a handbag shape first and then the handbag design or first the handbag design and then the handbag shape.

LeSportsac currently have many different product lines that include a complete range of handbags, travel bags, totes, messenger bags, backpacks, attaches and accessories. Their laptop bags rock!

In addition to their classic LeSportsac handbag collection, they also host “guest designers”. As I mentioned above, Gwen Stefani has created several (I think 3) collections for LeSportsac, while other designers include the trendsetter Stella McCartney (currently available on the LeSportsac website) Jonathan Adler, Diane von Furstenberg and tokidoki. Apparently their bags are available in the UK, but I cannot find out where. Please e-mail me if you find out and let me know! They currently have two new handbag collections in 2008 – LeSportsac Boutique and LeSportsac Beach are marketed as high fashion bags and accessories.

The newly launched LeSportsac Men's and Guys' collections are in colors and shapes designed to appeal to the male audience, with everything from travel toiletry kits to attaches, from briefcases to duffel bags. I like the fact that men are starting to carry more bags – sexy and androgynous and about time!
