I have always been a fan of ethnical themes - perhaps trying to breathe some exotic allure into my boring Caucasian European self. Cristobal Balenciaga was not hailed as ‘The Couturier of Couturiers’ and ‘The Master of us all’’ for nothing by designer Christian Dior. But Balenciaga died in his home country of Spain in 1972 and the company has been since acquired by the Gucci Group in 2001.
